Clayton Pennington, MD
Clay Pennington, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He obtained his undergraduate degree in biological sciences and chemistry from Louisiana State University and his Medical Doctorate degree from the Medical College of Georgia. After medical school, he trained in New York City at Mount Sinai/New York Eye and Ear Health System for his ophthalmology training. He specializes in cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and diagnosis and management of many medical conditions affecting the eye including (but not limited to) glaucoma, dry eye, keratoconus, and diabetic retinopathy. He was specialty Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2019 and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Upon completion of his ophthalmology training in 2018, he moved to Denver with his family and has fallen in love with the city, the mountains, and the medical community. During his training and early career, he has practiced in a variety of health care settings including internal medicine and rural care in Peru. He established Colorado Eye Surgeons in 2021 to prioritize a comprehensive, patient-centered experience. He strives to genuinely focus on patient needs, and making sure a patient feels comfortable and totally informed every step of the way.
In addition to his professional career as an ophthalmologist, Dr. Pennington enjoys spending time with his wife and son, skiing, bicycling, cooking and traveling.
Claire Rocken, O.D.
Dr. Claire Rocken is a dedicated optometrist committed to providing exceptional, personalized eye care. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with clinical honors from the Illinois College of Optometry, where she developed a strong foundation in comprehensive eye health. Following graduation, Dr. Rocken completed a residency at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, where she focused on ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and low vision rehabilitation. This advanced training provided her with extensive experience in managing complex eye conditions and helping patients achieve their best possible vision.
Dr. Rocken is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), a prestigious distinction that honors her dedication to clinical excellence, scholarly contributions, and the advancement of the profession. Earning this fellowship required meeting rigorous standards, including original research and published work in the field.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Rocken enjoys an active lifestyle. She loves hiking and skiing, as well as discovering new restaurants and exploring different cuisines.
